A WIN-WIN SITUATION


Life is a huge puzzle. When, how, where and what can happen – is the biggest question. Sometimes life can take us totally by surprise – totally unprepared and unequipped to face the situations that life may land us into. Can we ever say that we are at least more or less prepared to face life? I very much doubt it. The only preparation that we can really do to equip ourselves to face life’s tyrannies are to accept our situation gracefully – otherwise the more we fight the more the chances of getting ourselves tied up in knots. Total surrender is the key word here – because then nothing comes as a surprise! Be aware of what is happening to other people in their lives and accept that you are as vulnerable to all that! If disaster strikes someone today, on some other day it can strike you also and take away all that you hold as precious – whether it be a loved one or some other material possession. You may be a king or a pauper – but Nature (or is it God) - does not differentiate! So try as much as you can to give up your emotional attachments to life and material things – but it is extremely difficult. Yes, accept that this is a near impossible task and start from there. Once you accept the near impossibility of a task, you accept that success if any, is going to come slowly. This helps you to think slowly, clearly and with a cool head – because now you will be happy with whatever progress you make towards the achievement of your goal. In this way, taking small steps, you can plan your journey to your goal – and – even if there are setbacks, they will not be so huge that you cannot overcome them. Once the steps are small, the setbacks will cause minimum damage and will require very little effort to retrace the steps, rethink new strategies and start on a new plan of action! Living life with such a vision is always a WIN-WIN situation!
